
Janelle Cornwall serves as Assistant Chief Counsel for the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) on the Research team in the Legal Affairs unit of the Office of the General Counsel. She advises the applied research enterprise on transactional matters, including the impact of federal and state government contracting laws and regulations on GTRI agreements. Her work includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements such as MOUs, NDAs, equipment loans, and rental agreements.
Janelle joined Georgia Tech in 2022 after serving as counsel for the Technical College System of Georgia, where she advised the system and its 22 technical colleges on a variety of legal issues. She previously worked at the Georgia Department of Education, first as an attorney for the Charter Schools Division and later as Associate General Counsel for the agency. Earlier in her career, she focused on compliance and transactional matters for nonprofit and corporate organizations.
Janelle holds a J.D. from Emory University School of Law and a B.A. in Sociology from Stanford University. She is licensed to practice law in Georgia and California.
